Interviews
Sometimes good music can easily slip by unnoticed even if one is on the lookout for it. That is especially true of very small labels like Killing Music, a young upstart synthpop label from Sweden. Picking up the torch for Scandinavian synthpop, Killing Music is a label to be on the lookout for in the future. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/interviews/m_killingmusic.htm

Artur Nowak - Granulizer A somewhat old release from the Polish EMD label, Artur Nowak's 2004 "Guitar Granulizer" is a 50 track concept release, on Nowak's experimentation on the sounds achievable through the application of a multitude of different effects on guitar sample tracks. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_arturnowak_g.htm
Niko Skorpio - Escape From Heaven Although the mood is consistently dark and heavy throughout, "Escape from Heaven" is wonderfully constructed and, while it is occasionally quite harrowing and disturbing, the music is accomplished and carefully considered. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_nikoskorpio_efh.htm
Element - Genocide When viewed as a demo, the naive qualities of the recording fall away, leaving the listener suitably impressed with some pretty clever compositions. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_element_g.htm
Godlike - It Will Be Godlike/Underground At a time when electronic music is often accused of prioritising sound or genre accessibility over song writing - by way of automata, this single offers deliverance. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_godlike_iwbgu.htm
Xavier Charles & Robert Piotrowicz - /// Although based largely around walls of noise, "///" is not overly harsh but is also quite challenging listening. There is some loose structure to the whole thing but don't expect any 'tracks' or 'songs', "///" is pure sound experimentation spread over a single 22-minute live performance. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_xaviercharlesrobertpiotrowicz_iii.htm
Supreme Court - Hypocrites + Saints The final impression is one of insincerity. Musically, Supreme Court can be effortlessly slotted into the mix alongside acts like Aslan Faction or Grendel, but lack the emotional impact that either of the aforementioned offer the listener. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_supremecourt_hs.htm

Signalform + Tachikoma - Understanding Media Not quite beat-driven, but certainly not devoid of abstract rhythm, well-produced and squeaky-clean in its sound dynamics, "Understanding Media" won't necessarily provide any global communications epiphanies or surpass any typical IDM frontiers, but it will undoubtedly de-stress the hectic postmodern life. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_signalformtachikoma_um.htm
Zonk't - -trope Laurent Perrier is a name you definitly will hear more about in the future. A multi-talented musican / artist with much more capabilities then just one single style. And not many artists are capable of excelling in multiple genres. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_zonkt_t.htm
Glaukom Synod - Uczulony This is still a fair deal better than so many of the other electro/noise/grindcore mashup bands out there, and all in all, despite the inherent problems mentioned, this is still a good release. Some of the songs really just makes you want to get up and rhythmically punch someone in the face! http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_glaukomsynod_u.htm
Ova Looven - Gravity Has Expired Combining the post punk and shoegaze of New York with a dreamier, electro-ambient toolkit, Ova Looven's new 12" single yields easy listening and sweetness but is by no means without depth. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_ovalooven_ghe.htm
V/A - Beyond Ignorance And Borders C-drik clearly understands the exotic allure of foreign sounds set in a contemporary experimental context but didn't quite get the balance right with this compilation, as many of the tracks sound a little generic and don't really connect the listener with their origins. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_va_biab.htm

Peter Lee - Force Of Nature The brainchild of Peter Lee, a DJ from Providence, Rhode Island, Force Of Nature has been an active label for over five years. Closely associated with the Rhode Island Noise/Industrial festival, and now Forced Distribution, Force Of Nature is an outlet for quality electronics, having been home to releases in genres that range from dark ambient and power eletronics to breakcore. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/interviews/m_forceofnature.htm

Tetra Plok - Fear Of A Blind Date Tetra Plok is a throwback to the days of Punk and New Wave but a very original and well-produced one nevertheless, easily dwarfing most of what was released under the umbrella of the Electroclash trend. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_tetraplok_fobd.htm
Elekore - Voluntary Human Extinction Judging from this short album, Elekore is one of the few projects that can be honestly described as electronic punk music, as their music and dedication to it sounds as genuine as it gets and definitely more convincing than some higher-profile acts around. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_elekore_vhe.htm
Nightech - Deviation Affiliated with the Russian Lagunamuch community of abstract and ambient electronic artists, Nightech confronts us with the otherworldly vastness of the cold and empty reaches between the stars. Bleak drones and sinister reverberations characterize his music in "Deviation". http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_nightech_d.htm
Kirdec - Killed by a Coconut Despite of the harsh, aggressive sound of "Killed by a Coconut", the tracks of this album are dedicated to the very delicate question of veganism and senseless animal slaughter. It's worth noting that this album, whether you like it or not, does force one to ponder the issue. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_kirdec_kbac.htm

Marc Desforges - Geska Records Geska Records is, in fact, the alliance of eternal music mingled with the body movements of those half-dressed souls still able to inspire the spiritual grace of great civilizations and all the sensual delight of our modernity. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/interviews/m_geskarecords.htm

Bleiburg - Way Of Crosses If you're looking for an amalgam of the bizarre, Bleiburg's "Way of Crosses" is exactly what you need. At times militaristic, often bombastic, but always atmospheric, this record veers across genre borders resulting in a celebration of dark diversity. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_bleiburg_woc.htm
Munkie - Dark Corners Characterized by downtempo rhythms and unhurried lyricism, "Dark Corners" recalls the unmistakable, relaxed and soulful UK electro-lounge sound, and the band naturally evokes comparisons to such varied artists as Massive Attack, Portishead, Hooverphonic and Zero 7. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_munkie_dc.htm

Albéric Giegger - [walnut + locust] Simultatenously a music webzine and record label, the Montréal-based [walnut + locust] record label is one of those very small "do it yourself" record labels that so easily (and undeservedly) slips under the radar. Despite small, their output includes some rather interesting material from lesser-known talent and a few well-known acts from the field of experimental electronic music. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/interviews/m_walnutlocust.htm
Reviews
Amp - All Of Yesterday Tomorrow Amp's ability to manually or electronically manipulate, transform and weave sound into haunting landscapes propels the battered psyche of our century into an uncharted domain. This is music for a genetically modified generation. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_amp_aoyt.htm
Erthad - Gma The music quite fast grasps you by your throat and gives you an uneasy feeling which lasts up onto somewhere in the midst of the third track. From that moment on you surrender to the feeling and you experience a certain beauty in its oppressive atmosphere. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_erthad_g.htm
Lietterschpich - I Cum Blood In The Think Tank Slow and heavy, noisey and nicely layered, full of agression and other emotions and actually good to play an several occasions. Best would be if you have the feeling the world is against you and you just want to react: you'll find soulmates in that by playing this album. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_lietterschpich_icbittt.htm
Samarkande / Oblivion Ensemble - Samarkande / Oblivion Ensemble Sometimes we are being sent CD's and we don't know what to expect at all. When we get to listen we can e fully surprised by its beauty, without ever having heard of a project's name. And this split-release by the projects Samarkande and the Oblivion Ensemble is such an example. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_va_soe.htm
Maurizio Bianchi + Maor Appelbaum - Environmental Meditations There is a lot of good here in sound design and layering though some of the pieces seem a bit long and repetitious after awhile. It's a fairly good effort from both contributors and a lot more interesting than most the "noise" polluting CD and CD-R format these past few years... http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_mauriziobianchimaorappelbaum_em.htm

Interviews
Herwig Holzmann - Photophob The main music-project of the prolific Austrian Herwig Holzmann, Photophob navigates between ambient, broken beats, electronica and idm, incorporating influences and inspiration from classic science fiction literature into his musical compositions. His is not music to dance to or to be pretentiously clever, it is music to take listeners away on oneiric journeys bound only by the frontiers of imagination. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/interviews/m_photophob.htm
Reviews
Sonic Area - Explore With "Explore" Sonic Area succeeded in surpassing expectations, which were comprehensibly set rather high after his previous album, and takes the listener on a disturbing and involving exploratory journey to the dark corners of the human psyche, the areas where instincts such as primal fear reside. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_sonicarea_e.htm
Battery Cage - Product (2005) As a whole, the album is primitive and raw, but that very rawness carries with it a sincerity lacking in many modern acts. Overall, the late-nineties influences are unmistakable, the tape hiss imperfections are endearing and the overriding feeling is one of nostalgia. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_batterycage_p2005.htm

Reviews
Soiled - Shambolic Psychotic Soiled is probably one of the more obscure (and thankfully unpolished) jewels of British fringe experimentalism whose music as a whole (not just "Shambolic Psychotic") deserves to be discovered and appreciated. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_soiled_sp.htm
V/A - Women Take Back The Noise A very strong collection of work by female Noise artists. If this is only a sample of what women are currently offering this scene, I think that the men who lazily blast feedback in the name of art have something to be truly scared of! http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_va_wtbtn.htm
Slow Soldier - New Under The Volt An album equally suited for a IDM dancefloor mix, a breakneck road trip or a urban commute amongst wires, concrete, steel and the omnipresent haze of artificial light. If you have grown tired of banal beats and similar sounds then "New Under The Volt" is the refreshing break that you are looking for. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_slowsoldier_nutv.htm
Randy Greif & Kenji Siratori - Narcoleptic Cells Only and wholly defined by ever-shifting sound, this otherwise characteristic dark ambient body, with its morphing atmospherics accompanied by infinitesimal moments of intelligible spoken word, is as good as it gets. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_randygreifkenjisiratori_nc.htm

V/A - Whiteline Volume 2 "Whiteline Vol. 2" is a vinyl-only, limited edition release consisting of five exclusive tracks from a few rising artists in the post-industrial domain of noisy beats. A short format which could work for Aentitainment if only the tracks themselves were more forceful. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_va_wv2.htm

Jacek Kozlowski - Artoffact Records During its 10 years of existence, this Canadian label has kept a consistent output of quality releases featuring artists from all over North America and Europe. In addition to counting with some rather well-known artists in their roster, Artoffact Records was also responsible for the debut of acts like Urceus Exit and Cabaret from Poland. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/interviews/m_artoffactrecords.htm
Reviews
Erdem Helvacioglu - Altered Realities The sublime odyssey of "Altered Realities" is an inspired nomadic epic, and although there exist some moments more shadowed than others, it is overall a joyful paean of spiritual awakenings.. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_erdemhelvacioglu_ar.htm
V/A - Modus Vivendi Vol.2 An excellent compilation that will definitely give you a way out of your empty, meaningless mockery of a desk life and into a sunnier, warmer place, right up to the cool night party by the beach, in just 61 minutes. Just make sure you don't get fired for daydreaming on it. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_va_mvmv2.htm
Sci Fi Industries - Drafts And Crafts The album in its entirety is a very powerful and energetic work, housing immense aggression in its sound without succumbing to the rigid cliché of obligatory harshness of the genre. Sci Fi Industries manages to make cold look cool (pun intended) instead of forced with this release. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_scifiindustries_dac.htm
Darren Tate - Small Worlds Tate's latest release, "Small Worlds," is precisely as its title implies - windows seemingly opened in the air, cutting through the very substance of atmosphere and reality to offer fathomless views into realms both mystical and (ironically) minute. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_darrentate_sw.htm
Phragments - The Burning World If you enjoy dramatic martial overtures and neo-classical post-industrial anthems but feel alienated by the political claptrap offered by other artists in the genre, this is the release for you. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_phragments_tbw.htm
Battery Cage - A Young Person's Guide to Heartbreak "A Young Person's Guide to Heartbreak" is the second release from this US-based four-piece to be released through the Metropolis label. With a pretty good track record and a sizeable following under their belt, Battery Cage naturally have some expectations set. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_batterycage_aypgth.htm
Control Alt Deus - Control Alt Deus (demo 2007) Within a genre as oversaturated with mediocrity as that of dark electro (or "Endzeit EBM", or "Hellektro", or what-have-you) it is a rare pleasure to find something fresh and aurally stimulating hidden amongst the dross. Control Alt Deus' eponymous demo EP affords exactly this. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_controlaltdeus_cad2007.htm
Schultz - BioMekanikal A fair first effort, but terribly naïve. Schultz has his work cut out for him, developing the basis he has into something more complex and aurally exciting for a second release. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_schultz_b.htm

Christopher Braucks and C. Constantin Reineck - Æntitainment "Like seahorses we care a lot about our babies. We don't want them to be sold at supermarkets or megastores. Like good fathers we carefully choose their environment, because we really don't want them to share a cashdesk with toasters, nosehaircutters and mobilephones." http://www.connexionbizarre.net/interviews/m_aentitainment.htm

V/A - Imaginary Friends An excellent showcase of what Sublight Records was about: uncompromising quality electronics from IDM and downtempo breakbeats to drum'n'bass/jungle, breakcore and even some rock electronics. The music released by Sublight Records probably wasn't for everyone but its overall quality is undeniable. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_va_im.htm
ManicProject - Square0ne It is overall an intelligent record, but not nearly dark enough, electronic enough or emotional enough. Brilliant execution, meticulous attention to detail and more commercial potential than you can poke a stick at make for an easy choice for your average sheep at the record store. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_manicproject_s.htm
Freeze Etch - Perjorative "Pejorative" ends up as nothing more than a broken promise - albeit one that looks really good. It could almost be likened to dating someone that is beautiful but dumb as bricks: your friends may show great interest in the exterior aspects, but there's zero intellectual stimulation involved. http://www.connexionbizarre.net/reviews/r_freezeetch_p.htm
